About Us

Ken Longshaw, our lead team member and Licensed Builder, started working life in 1977 in an Architect’s office as the Architect’s draftsman, taking his sketches and doodles and preparing home plans for clients. Ken took this experience through various design and estimating positions until he arrived in Australia in 1981 and joined a construction team in Southern Sydney. Ken has been a licensed contractor for more than 40 years, has a can-do philosophy and is always keen to think outside the box to create your dream.

Over the past thirty years he has taken particular interest in finding sensible, eco-friendly building alternatives that save your wallet as well as our environment. This included obtaining a Master Builder’s Certification as a Green Builder, researching and building Straw Bale homes (his current family home included) and working with modern material technology and Passivhaus design principals to achieve suitable home environments for his clients.

Ken has been building in the Southern Highlands of NSW since 2012, and his core team have more than 130 years experience in residential home building, so we are able to help you design, get approval for and build your new home, extension or renovation, from Concept to Keys.

Our team has grown with now 8 permanent members and 3 more subcontract carpenters working on a regular basis on our projects. We work with a group of quality local specialists. Certified Building Designers, Engineers, Electricians, Plumbers, Bricklayers, Earth work and connectors, water proofers and suppliers.

Longshaw Construction is a member of Master Builder’s Association NSW, The Australian Passivhaus Association and the Association of Professional Builders. We actively work with The Professional Builders to continually Improve our processes and offerings.

We specialise in building unique Eco-Friendly (Green), Cost Effective, Energy-Efficient, Low Carbon Footprint local new homes and renovations, and offer personal Concept to Completion service.
