Our client contacted us to do more work for her when she moved to her new location. She had built a shed and wanted it to become the home – while still being a Shed!

Timeframe:
Exeter Village, NSW

She had purchased fine sawn Victorian Ash to use as lining for the interior and to hide the actual structural steel poles. Our team of craftsmen accomplished this plus using the beautiful timber to pick out the “Shed” structure in soft detail.
We also were tasked with creating a ceiling that insulated but still acknowledged the “Shed”. Kept the feel of the galvanized rafters. We arrived at a solution that expressed the three structural portal frame rafters with Galvanized sheet wrap but softened with plasterboard ceiling panels to reflect the light and provide space for bulk insulation.
The result is a well insulated light filled space that still says not “Shed”.
The large room became a warm backdrop for our client’s collection of unique items like the European wrought iron and timber chandeliers, hand crafted barn door iron mongery, custom sconces, antique furniture, worn Persian rugs, the beautiful feature Evalok Door, a butlers pantry and a custom kitchen featuring an AGA cooker, coyly hiding behind a hand crafted timber island feature.
We thoroughly enjoyed the collaborative journey with our client as we worked out the best methods to achieve her vision of living in a Not Shed.

Yes, we assist our clients throughout the approval process. This includes preparing and submitting all necessary documents to local councils or private certifiers to obtain Development Approval (DA) or Complying Development Certificates (CDC) as required.
Key design considerations include adapting to the local climate, landscape integration, and making use of natural light. We also focus on sustainable building practices to ensure energy efficiency and reducing the environmental impact.
The construction timeline can vary depending on the complexity and size of the project along with the types of approvals required. Generally, building a new home takes anywhere from 6 to 18 months from the initial design phase to the final handover.
We adhere to a strict quality control process that involves regular inspections and supervision at every stage of the construction. We use high-quality materials and collaborate with skilled tradespeople to ensure each home meets our high standards.
Longshaw Construction offers a statutory warranty period of 6 years for structural defects and 2 years for non-structural defects, as required by New South Wales building regulations. This warranty covers repairs or replacements needed due to construction faults.
